The lease on the Fiesta ST is up in a couple of months, and I haphazardly started looking around for the replacement. All of a sudden I run across this bad boy.

It’s not a manual, but it is a brown, diesel wagon. It is in great shape. Everything works, no rust, excellent condition. Paint needs a little shine to her, but that is about all.

Also, for some reason I found this Caprice wagon and I think I like it even more. Are both of these dumb ideas? Caprice is currently going for about $7,000.

I get and support the manual brown diesel wagon circle jerk but those both suck immensely. you will be hating life going from such a fun car to a funeral home on wheels

Fully agreed. That would be my first choice, but BMWs did not come with a 3rd row seat. I have to seat 6 is the problem.

I prefer not to have another car payment right now, so I was trying to stay under $10k. I was actually looking for an old crew cab 4x4 truck, but those are so rare and expensive to get one in decent shape. A nice old wagon is the best option right now. Must seat 6 people.

South Texas. There are very uncommon here. Value of these can get to $15k in perfect condition, but no one here wants one. This is truck territory here.

I like the idea, but have only found one potential candidate. I want to stay away from the 80s, 90s and 00s. They all seem lifeless to me. I had an 06' Suburban for about 3 months before I couldn’t take it anymore. I need a car with some personality even its a mean, disfunctional personality.

sidebar: It took me a while to figure it out, but I also had triplets who are almost 3 now. It’s not all my fault.

Every old car seems to be going unreasonable. I just watched a bone stock 72 blazer go over the auction block at $50,000. I can’t imagine who owned it that would make it that valuable.

Diesels are high demand trucks. The ones for sale have usually been beaten pretty hard. I’m afraid I don’t know where to go for a reasonably priced nice truck anymore.

Shudder, I find that body so ugly. I vote for the OP’s Caprice. Not sure about the price? Seems high for gut feel, but I don’t know that market.

The pricing on those seem a bit high to me. But I don’t know what the market is around your area. You mention that you live in South Texas. Is the used car trade pretty big down there (basically not enough inventory for everyone who wants it).

I understand. My CRX gets about 37 on the highway and it’s the best city car I’ve ever owned. But when I get a family, I’m definitely opting for a Caprice/Roadmaster wagon. Screw crossovers and SUVs.

I met a guy at our last C&C who had a Caprice with something like 420 hp and 380k on the clock. It was lowered, custom exhaust, just beautiful. I think he said he gets about 28 on the highway. It’s the ultimate gearhead dadmobile.
